Warranty
Two warranties, and who stands behind each
A roof carries a warranty from the shingle maker and one from the roofer. They are different papers.
- 01
The shingle maker's
Covers manufacturing defects in the shingles, for a term the maker sets by product line. It is the maker's promise, not mine.
- 02
The system or enhanced warranty
Some makers offer more when the roofer uses a full set of their parts and registers the job. Ask which tier you're getting and what it takes.
- 03
My workmanship warranty
Covers my crew's work, for the term written on your contract: how many years, what it covers and what voids it. Ask to see it before you sign.

Warranty questions
What warranty do I get?
Two parts: the shingle maker's material warranty, and a workmanship warranty from me. Both are written down on your contract.
What does "lifetime" mean?
For most shingle makers it means as long as you own the home, for manufacturing defects, often prorated after an initial period, and usually transferable once. Read the maker's own page for the line you're buying.
Why does a contractor's credential matter?
Only roofers the maker credentials can register the enhanced warranties. I'll say plainly which, if any, I hold.
Want the warranty on paper first?
Ask for the sample contract with your estimate. I'll send both.
